WAMARE
KIKUKAWA
HOTEL

Private traditional inn (Ryokan) in Kikukawa with a modern Japanese Tsuboniwa garden.
Renovated into a one-floor inn with a high degree of privacy, taking advantage of the few openings and poor environment surrounded by buildings.

Surrounded by buildings, the tsuboniwa garden, which was dark in colour and made of bricks, was made into a tsuboniwa garden with combed painted walls, bright but finished with lanterns and moss, creating a calm environment in Japanese style.

Making the Japanese-style room into a small room not only creates a spatial separation from the living room, but also raises the angle from which the tsuboniwa garden can be viewed, allowing the whole area to be seen from above.

By illuminating the tsuboniwa garden, the impression changes from day to night, making it a space that can be enjoyed at any time of the day or night.

The kitchen was installed in a dead space with an emphasis on design, resulting in a spacious living room and Japanese-style room.
