On the 1st, the Real Estate Strategy Association (RESA) held a seminar titled "What Paradigm Shifts Must Be Considered in the Post-COVID Era" at Aeon Compass Tokyo (Chuo-ku, Tokyo). This marked the second seminar organized by the association.
In the first part, guest researcher Toshiya Mizutani from the association delivered a keynote speech. Mizutani discussed the paradigm shift occurring in the economy and society triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, providing an analysis from the perspective of real estate and construction in the Japanese economy. He also pointed out the impending labor shortage as an impediment to future economic growth and discussed the necessity of immigration policies and digital transformation (DX), introducing important perspectives for the future economy.
Following this, Mizutani and Yusuke Oki, the representative director of the association, engaged in a talk session on the theme "Outlook for the Condominium Market in 2024." Responding to Oki's inquiries, Mizutani noted that unlike the past condominium market, there is a characteristic of not having an excessive increase in inventory. He also mentioned that developers have the financial strength to aim for gradual sales without rushing, and considering the continued rise in construction costs, it is unlikely that the current upward trend in condominium market prices will collapse.
