The shopping street in the Hanamigawa residential area.
On the 14th, MUJI HOUSE Co., Ltd. and the Urban Renaissance Agency announced the completion of the renovation of the shopping street in the Hanamigawa residential area as part of the "MUJI×UR Community Renovation" project held in Hanamigawa Ward, Chiba City.
The Hanamigawa residential area is located near Yachiyodai Station on the Keisei Main Line, accessible by bus in 3 to 10 minutes. Since 2021, MUJI HOUSE and the Urban Renaissance Agency have expanded the scope of renovations to include not only the residential areas but also the exteriors, outdoor plazas, and shopping streets. The first phase of the "MUJI×UR Community Renovation" project involved the renovation of the shopping street in the Hanamigawa residential area. To create a shopping street where "people want to stay," they renovated the arcade, repaired the exterior walls of the shopping street buildings, and maintained the lawns.
Since the launch of this project, they have developed an original menu for the shopping street, updated community spaces within the shopping street, and initiated various activities involving the shopping street and local residents. These efforts will continue. Additionally, the shopping street has hosted the "Hanamigawa Residential Area Market" to foster vibrancy and interaction, serving as a platform to verify the effective use of public spaces in residential areas for community engagement activities. Moving forward, it will continue to operate as a platform for two-way communication between local residents and businesses.
Furthermore, the residential area plans to conduct a demonstration experiment for the autonomous driving mobility service "GACHA" and other projects.
